Country of Origin: New Potentia
Born to a caravan of human traders moving cargo through the dangerous mountain region known as the Range; his parents, alongside most of the traders, died to an Ogre ambush. A handful of survivors escaped and were offered shelter by a tribe of Goliath nomads; referring to the orphaned infant as ’’Stalf-gar’’, or, ’’little one’’.
This name, especially with his comparative small size and physical disadvantage over Goliath children, lead to Stalfgar developing an inferiority complex; overcompensating with extreme competitiveness, an obsession with athletic perfection and an impossibly massive sword. Outside competitive challenges he developed a good natured sense of humour and enthusiastic optimism, bordering sometimes on reckless.
When he reached enrollment age he returned to New Potentia to receive training in the Potentian Military Academy. He chose to keep his origin secret as Goliaths were somewhat looked down upon by the population, and he had enough trouble fitting in to Human customs as was.
His physical prowess and love of combat allowed him to accel in training, although he found the strict structure of military hierarchy frustrating. While enrolled, he made the acquaintance of Deuce, Nero and Alek, fellow cadets which quickly became his friends and allies. Near graduation, the actions of the military command, particularly how they valued the lives of their troops and the institutionalized discrimination against ’’lower races’’ lead him to desert and seek his fortunes elsewhere with his friends.
